
When producing graphics and artwork that are going to be used within a video or on a DVD, a number of design rules apply to ensure the artwork is reproduced accurately.
These guidelines will make sure your design work looks good when reproduced on a TV screen.
HD Broadcast/Blu-ray DVD
HD Resolution images need to be designed to a size of 1920pix wide by 1080pix high at 72dpi.
SD Broadcast/SD DVD
SD Resolution Images need to be designed to a size of 1024pix wide by 576pix high at 72dpi.
Design Specifications (Photoshop):
1. Design all artwork in RGB
2. No areas of the design thinner than 3 pixels including fonts.
3. Colour Levels need to be clamped to a level of 235
4. Don’t use any serif fonts.
5. All text no smaller than 16pt
6. All layer anti-analysing must be set to soft
7. All text to be placed within the title safe area (middle 80% of design) so TV sets don’t crop it.
8. All key design elements to sit within the action safe area (middle 90% of design) so TV sets don’t crop it.
All Artwork to be supplied as layered Photoshop file including all linked files and fonts.
