Telford and Wrekin Music

The Telford and Wrekin Music Service (TWMS) organised an exciting celebration which brought together 160 students from 22 different schools across the borough.

A variety of acts climbed aboard the massive stage to perform before the 600 strong crowd at The Place in Oakengates. Included in the impressive line up was a choir, a string ensemble, a samba drum collective, a brass band, and to culminate, a huge orchestral performance which saw 120 students performing on stage simultaneously.

At a time when live music, and indeed, the cultivation of young, live musicians is reportedly in decline, Telford and Wrekin Music Service seem to be making groundbreaking efforts to ensure that children of all ages are aware of the many joys that music making can bring.

Audience members were impressed, and surprised at the level of talent on display, describing the event as a great success. TWMS now have big plans for the future, and hope to get more and more children involved with the musical arts. To help publicise their efforts Lenzflare have created a short promotional film using footage from across the day, sampling much of the wonderful music the many kids produced.
